About Nora

In 2009, Nora was diagnosed with malignant retroperitoneal sarcoma and had multiple surgeries and frequent monitoring over the years. She was a co-founder of FINISH Sarcoma.

While battling sarcoma, she was an educator, student government leader, and youth development coordinator in the Carroll County Public Schools also while holding roles within the Maryland Association of Student Councils. She finished her career at Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS), acting as the Regional Advisor for the Baltimore County Student Councils in addition to leading the work for service learning and volunteering. During her time at BCPS, Nora was instrumental in working with student leaders to establish the Baltimore County Junior Councils to expand opportunities to middle school students and implement changes in the process of student selecting their representative on the Board of Education. She was a true advocate of diversity, equity, and the student voice.

Nora lost her battle on September 14, 2022. She is missed by many of her family, friends, and students.
